log (2007/11/09 to 2007/11/15)

First, I would like to remind everyone that Rudy Giuliani is a loon:

What we don't see is that freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do.
  -- Giuliani, 1994

War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength! Soy!

Not only is freedom about ceding authority to Rudy, it's also about Rudy's freedom to suppress criticism, including funny ads that annoy him.

On the other hand, one sort of hopes that he'll get the Republican nomination, because it'd be such fun to see James Dobson and perhaps the entire Nutball Theocratic Right bust a gut in public, and perhaps even run, say, Mike "I Heart" Huckabee as a third-party candidate, making it even more likely that we'll end up with a Democratic president (and while I can't imagine many things worse than having a Democratic president, having a Republican president is one of them (and having a president that Dobson likes is another)).

Cloning primate embryos! First Dolly the Sheep, now this! And you know what inevitably follows: flying cars!!

Flying car!

But anyway, down to business:

End of Day Eight: 10,008
End of Day Nine: 10,714
End of Day Ten: 14,535
End of Day Eleven: 16,016
End of Day Twelve: 18,048
End of Day Thirteen: 20,026 (woot!)
Today's Goal: 22,000

Holding steady, if not quite advancing. On the other hand, at M's urging I looked and discovered I still have quite a bit of vacation coming to me this year, so I expect to have at least a few days in the coming weeks where I have the time to write a bit more than two thousand words, which would bring the ETA a bit closer in than the rather tense twenty-eighth where it's currently sitting.

We'll see!
