A Man and Two Women, by Doris Lessing
Luminous short stories

Another of those books where the less said the better, as long as it's enough to get you to read it.

Lessing is a great writer. These are great short stories. They are lucid, and intelligent, and deep, and heart-rending. Lessing observes people with a cold eye, and at the same time with a warm understanding. She is brutally, and beautifully, honest about what she sees. I wish I could write like this.
